Quiet rooms at Grand Mercure Bali Seminyak

Sound insulation is poor — thin walls permit audible noise from neighboring rooms, doorbells, and external sources. Only one vague positive claim contradicts overwhelming specific negative evidence.

NegativeStrong evidence·based on 9 reviews

All claims are from June–July 2026, representing recent experiences. No temporal improvement or decline is evident within this narrow timeframe; the problem is consistent across all recent reviews.

Thin walls permit audible transmission of neighbor activity, including conversation, coughing, and sneezing (claims 69118, 71845, 80722, 80863)

Guests report hearing neighboring room doorbells clearly enough to confuse them with their own doors (claim 71853)

External noise from roadside location and adjacent empty block with dogs makes some rooms unusable, especially balconies (claims 67004, 68149, 90569)

Noise severity affects sleep quality, with at least one guest unable to sleep for three nights (claim 68015)

One reviewer reported their room was quiet, though without specific detail (claim 67111)

One Quiet Room vs. Widespread Thin Walls

Claim 67111 (New Zealand reviewer, 2026-07-14) reports a quiet room with no detail. However, nine other claims from the same period—including highly specific descriptions of thin walls, audible neighbor activity, doorbells, and sleep disruption—contradict this. The single positive claim lacks specificity and offers no explanation of room location or circumstances, while the negative claims are detailed and consistent. This likely reflects room-location variation (corner vs. roadside, higher vs. lower floor) rather than a genuine contradiction in insulation quality; the hotel's own acknowledgment in claim 67004 that some rooms are roadside suggests room selection significantly affects experience.

The major issue is that the walls are very thin. I have never experience this in any other hotel around the world. It seems like the walls are made of paper. You can hear the neighbors coughing and sneezing
